The creators call Thumper 'rhythmic violence "and that's a damn good description. Where most rhythm and music games a cheerful atmosphere in regimes Thumper provides only abstract, but oh so physical cosmic horror. If puny little beetle in a seemingly infinite space-coaster you stay only in life by clinging convulsively to your sense of rhythm. When you consider all this too is experiencing in VR, the experience is absolutely violent mention.
Thumper VR Review

In absolute basis Thumper is most like an endless runner, as you might play on your phone. Throughout the game you look into the distance to prepare for the next barrier. Using just one button and the arrows ram down your barriers, jump across hazard or scrape up against the wall, if not to fly off the road. This all begins quite simple, with little variation, but soon the series of obstacles are enormous hectic and complex.
The dangers even follow each other in such rapid succession that the game would be almost unplayable, were it not for the extremely ominous audio you a helping hand. Although there are hardly any explicit music is present in the world of Thumper is any type of obstacle with a specific sound rhythmically announced for you. By internalizing these sounds, you know exactly what to expect danger in the next series. In fact, you will only need to mimic the rhythm of your own actions.
The above means that you Thumper in fact could play blind, even if you do miss a large part of the charm it. The frantic gameplay and frantic sound experience is in fact only reinforced by Thumpers dark, psychedelic graphic style. In each level you race as a small but resolute beetle about an impossibly tortuous path that stretches almost endless for you - until you get to the Lovecraftian bosses, at least. Each component of the path is dark and angular, yet organic, which gives it even happens ijzingwekkender - like sjeest the tentacles of Cthulu himself.

Of course all this is much better advantage in VR. When you can actually see depth, is the path that stretches for many times more impressive. The projections of that path are also really creepy when they actually see your way to shrink or right to see your curves increasing. In terms of audio-visual feedback is Thumper're a genius, but with the VR headset is as though you really feel like a fever dream.
Unfortunately, however, his levels so long that fever dream really going to feel so. This will undoubtedly have been a deliberate design choice, given the fine fits the violent atmosphere. Yet it is quite mentally exhausting, especially considering the fact that you all this time to keep your concentration there. Add to that also the fatigue that anyway entails the use of the VR headset and you have got a pretty grueling game experience. Per playing session, I was little more than a single level to.
THE JUDGEMENT

Still remained (and keep) me coming back for more Thumper. The simple but effective gameplay and oppressive atmosphere combine to create an addictive gaming experience that stays with you long after you have closed the game. The game requires some long your concentration and is therefore quite tiring - especially with a VR glasses. Nevertheless Thumper worth playing - and even more in VR.
