That is the setting of Deadlight Randall Wayne if you go looking for your missing wife and daughter

A world that is lost in a zombie epidemic. That is the setting of Deadlight. Randall Wayne if you go looking for your missing wife and daughter. By hospitals, military camps and even the sewer, you will have to find a way past many shadows. But most people will call the spade a more familiar name: zombies.

When starting the game, the tone has been put. The title screen shows gray colors and an almost deserted street, apart from the zombies that stumble across the street. Then there's the dreary music that clearly indicates that there is little hope for a good future.

As mentioned step into the shoes of Wayne Randall (Randy for friends), a man looking for his wife and daughter. That quest you will have to perform in the beautifully designed world of Deadlight. The game uses an interaction between the shadows on the foreground and detailed images in the background.

While playing makes the gameplay reminds me back to classics of many years. Flashback, the old Prince of Persia, but also influences from comics like The Walking Dead seem to come back. Often you need to see a way to find one side of the map to another. By running, jumping and climbing, you should try to avoid the shadows. The fact is that Randall can be quite easily surrounded. A single zombie, you can still create harmless with an ax, but once there are three or more, you have to put it really a walk.

The atmosphere throughout the game by extremely oppressive. You are constantly on guard, because the shadows can break through wooden barricades and climb over low objects. Fortunately, you can themselves often use the area. Through a closet to throw, you can block a doorway so that the zombies have it inspected.

Some people might think that Deadlight is in line of games like Metroid and a few years ago appeared Shadow Complex. There are definitely similarities. You'll find upgrades for your energy and stamina, you get new weapons against sporadic and you need to take due account of your surroundings. But it actually stops.

Deadlight is an entertaining game, but it lacks a certain depth. In many respects, seems also to be a style choice, because if you're surrounded by zombies, you will also in reality not have access to an arsenal.

Randall can fortunately use sound and his opponents provoke a direction. For example, by standing on a platform, it can pave the way through shouting. When all the zombies are plane have gathered under him, Randall is free to jump over it and continue to sprint. In terms of gameplay Deadlight is so good at another.

Yet there can be found a few flaws. So the game is short-lived. When I reached the credits and the ingame counter looked at how long I had done it, it was two hours and eight minutes. This was the actual time that I had used while playing. The cut scenes and the moments that take your break, while of course not count, but it is highly questionable whether a game that lasts only two hours worth 1200 Microsoft Points.

However, the game has a few things which playability which can stretch. As each level contains a number of hidden objects and clues that can give a little more insight into the outbreak of zombies. In addition, there are found three handhelds in the game that give you access to very simple games. Funny to try once more, especially since there achievements have been linked to the breaking of the high scores.

Another flaw I found the second Act of the game. The first and third parts are pretty focused on dodging zombies and the good timing of jumps, but Act 2 takes place completely drains off. That would be a nice to have been given, but the tone here is completely different and there are puzzle elements introduced you later never looks back. Moreover, the difficulty and the assignments are really all over the place here. Perhaps the intention was to allow players to give some moments of rest compared to the first and third act, but it gave me just annoying.

Conclusion
Deadlight is a game that is worth trying. The gameplay is very well organized, graphically the game does have a special atmosphere and the feeling that you almost alone on a bygone world, is extremely strong. However, the game of a very short duration and there is little reason to start the game afterwards again. 1200 points this short experience also slightly overpriced. Since the hidden items unfortunately can not change that. But this title could soon be reduced in price, it is worth a look. Though it was only through the unique experience.
