Sometimes you come across a movie from which you can see from the title that it is not Oscar material. We do not even mention examples, because you have just found yourself a. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter summarizes the plot along in its title: the sixteenth President of the United States secretly turned out to be a vampire hunter. It's true, because Abe wrote it himself in his diary!

The film begins with Abraham Lincoln in his childhood. He tries to protect a slave, so the owner takes out on his irritation Abe's parents. The slave trader appears to be a vampire and sneaks in at night their house to poison the boy's mother. Years later, when Lincoln is already a tall guy (played by Benjamin Walker) he buys a gun to avenge his mother. Surprisingly, it goes pretty bad, but Abe is fortunately rescued by vampire hunter Henry Sturges (Dominic Cooper). Together they hold a training montage and then kill vampires can really begin. The resistance is enormous, because the whole Confederation is run by vampires, who use the slave trade in the south as a primary food source. Bam-bam-BAM!

How Kitty snatched the story above is, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter takes itself seriously baffling. Practically all inspirational quotes ever said the real Lincoln, and American students should learn by heart, come along in the film. Even the Gettysburg Address is held at the end. What you have then is a film that can be conceptually as a nepreclame in Rodriguez's and Tarantino's Grindhouse, but eventually tries as realistic as possible to come across. All well and good, but it has now and then the momentum of an otherwise good dumb action movie. Because stupid action, there is fortunately abundant in Vampire Hunter.

Abraham Lincoln as action hero; it works surprisingly well. Benjamin Walker has not only the stature of the president, but also the ability to look tough with an ax. The weapon circles around his arms around like a baton twirl and builds even a gun at one point. Director Timur Bekmambetov showed with Wanted and Night Watch though he is not afraid to shoot totally insane action sequences and Abraham Lincoln does not disappoint. Could people Wanted deflect bullets when their arm made a lurch for her shots, herein Lincoln, a tree with one stroke cut down the power of (drum roll) the truth!
The highlight of laughter during a scene in which the president is fighting a vampire while a herd of rampaging CGI beaten horses rages around them. The film critic hissed displeasure at me about how bad the scene stuck with the previous one, but my inner child drew a simian grin. I looked at Abraham Lincoln fought a vampire with an ax while she balanced on horses. It's like one of those 'awesomeness'-images on the Internet, which for example, you will see a T-Rex in a fighter jet.

Still, the film had better come out of the tube as it had become a self-parody like Planet Terror and Machete. The screenplay was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who also wrote the bestseller. He also helped to Dark Shadows Tim Burton (who is also the producer of this movie, Hollywood is smaller than you think!) Which still had more self-deprecating.

Despite the serious scenes Abraham Lincoln remains: Vampire Hunter movie that should have mainly Scooby Doo logic. The action scenes are wonderfully exaggerated and the escapades of Lincoln and his Mystery Gang entertaining enough to recommend him as a popcorn movie for the Saturday night. Search only no more than give back the title, an error will be the director.
