Rez was pretty particular when it fifteen years ago came out on the Dreamcast. On-rails shooters we saw at that time more often, but rarely they were so unique and as stylish as this musical masterpiece. Yet it seemed United Game Artists, such as Rez studios hot, never completely satisfied. The game was always real and immersive. Every sense was to be stimulated, and preferably in a way that melt impulses, to the point that you're going to see sound and can taste colors, or: Rez to approach the sense of synesthesia.

To achieve this, the PS2 version of Rez came bundled with "Trance Vibrator" (yes, really) which measures shivered on the music and threw sequel Child of Eden thanks to the kinect physical exercise into the mix. But Rez remastered for VR achieves it really the original vision. Rez was pretty special, but VR is really unique.

As mentioned Rez is an on-rails shooter and actually there in terms of mechanics also said everything. You simply fly along a predetermined route and shoot everything that moves. Beyond these direct action you need to take into account only some collectibles like health pick ups or offensive overdrives, which you afknalt screen automatically everything for a few seconds. In terms of gameplay Rez so not so special.
What Rez does make special is the enormous amount of style and the way it pulls you into the stylish world. Rez namely takes place in a virtual environment that would have to be invented a few decades back. Everywhere you look, you see neon colors and simple - often abstract - objects full polygonal lines. Despite the simple form it still manages to create a unique aesthetic. It does this primarily by mixing the virtual, sci-fi elements with Japanese culture. The result is as if you are floating on a Shinto-Buddhist Tron-rave.

That feeling of a rave is, moreover, not for nothing. Each of the - unfortunately what meager amount - levels is in fact accompanied by a fantastic electronic beat. Better still, you as a player is an active part of the music. Every time you upload a shot, fires, or touches with an enemy, you create a sound that merges with the song in the background. It is something far Rez name a music game, but the audio is inextricably linked with the rest of Rez in a way that you actually see and feel almost music while playing.
Area X, unfortunately, the only completely new level in Rez Infinite, goes one step further here. Where other levels only have gotten an HD upgrade, Area X is completely built from scratch for the PS4 (and VR!). This means not only that the fine particle effects to fly your ears: even the controls are adjusted. For the first time, you can look around to your heart and even determine the flight path of your avatar. Very smoothly he does not control, but that should not harm the fun. Area X continues to be a wonderful addition.

To get the most out of Rez - especially Area X - pick, you do need a PSVR. Once you actually get into the virtual reality of Rez is simply targeting a matter of looking at the enemy. This movement is added naturally to Rez, which makes it even easier to get carried away completely by the game. It is the Rez Infinite actually easier to play with VR than the DualShock 4. Not only targets quicker and easier with your head than with an analog stick - well you often get a chance to shoot at flying by foes, where it without VR already passed your vision.
THE JUDGEMENT

How it plays: Rez Infinite is by far the best way to experience Rez. Have you purchased PSVR, then you stand a breathtaking virtual adventure waiting like no other. Nowhere else will you find so much style, beats such fine and such overwhelming sense of synesthesia. It might be a bit short, but this is Virtual Reality - and Rez - as it was originally intended.
